Tejano Music Award for Female Vocalist of The Year

The Tejano Music Awards for Female Vocalist of The Year was an honor presented to recording artists in Tejano music. The Tejano Music Awards ceremony that was established in 1981, showcased female entertainers who achieved accolades, recognition, high record sales or a big fan base. The Tejano Music Awards honors several other categories which are presented at the ceremony annually to "honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position".
Singer-songwriter, Selena, who is regarded as the "Queen of Tejano music", currently holds the record for most wins in this category. Selena first entered the award in 1986, and continued to win the award for ten years (twice posthumous after her death). During the 30th Tejano Music Awards in 2010, Selena was awarded "Best 1980s Female Vocalist", and "Best 1990s Female Vocalist".
